These pictures were produced by sliding over my face with a very old hand scanner that I saved from the trash. Because the scanner was not moved straight, and the skin was squished, the face looks distorted and surreal.

It's weird that the expression seems to be so pained and sad. I was actually quite happy at the time because I got the scanner working.

Because the scanner is uncalibrated, there are some vertical stripes visible. I quite like them, though. It gives it some texture, like the canvas visible through a painting. This gives the images a certain honesty.
